Work Experience

Community Pharmacy - Day Lewis Pharmacy

April 2012

I worked in a community pharmacy for 2 weeks and it was great working with other members, it allowed me to gain team-working skills and further improve my communication skills. I checked expiry dates of medication, directed customers to products and assisted in advising them on selection of products. This improved my interaction skills, as it required me to communicate to people of different age groups.

Employment

H & M

July 2016

At H&M my prime responsibility was to handle delivery and stock and occasionally assist my colleagues on the shop floor, especially during busy hours. As part of my role, my duties will include assisting customers, lending them a hand and advising them on products. Working in retail has helped me further improve my communication skills and the same time it has helped me develop my confidence in approaching customers.

Day Lewis Warehouse

June 2016

Working for Day Lewis was great as I met people from different countries, this meant that some of the employees had accents. This helped me because it helped me improve my listening skills, as some of the employees struggled to pronounce some words.

Hobbies and Interests

Travelling is one my favourite hobbies and have visited many places, which has helped me with skills. In the slideshow is pictures of the places I have visited.

I have gained and improved skills when was at these places such as communication, listening, leadership and planning. Speaking English to most of the people where I lived was quite difficult as they struggled to understand what I was trying to say. As I speak and understand Gujarati and a little of Hindi, this helped me a lot. When I did speak English, I spoke slowly and used hand gestures to help the people understand. Planning had to be done a week or two before travelling to ensure I arrive on time at events and activities. Financial planning helped me with the daily spendings. I gained leadership skill when I went mountain climbing with my family. I was really quick and found routes which was easy to take and helped my family to get through difficult routes by informing them for slippery rocks and other hazards.
